A friend commissioned me to take some pictures for the cover of an upcoming CD that he and his recording partner are finishing up. It's a mix of acoustic guitar and piano, so not only did he ask me to take some pictures of them [the two artists - which I haven't done yet] but to take some pictures of the instruments for the cover art.
Have you tried to combine an upright piano and a guitar to get interesting photos? Me either - until now. Let me tell you, they may make beautiful music together, but they are not necessarily an easy blend when it comes to being photographed together.
My friend and his colleagues are happy with the results - so all is good.
Here are a couple of the shots from the session.

That's interesting. It looks as if the images that are the most striking are those where the instrument is just suggested, rather than completely present. Helpful when one is so much larger than the other. Imagine if the instruments had been an organ and a piccolo!
I like the first photo, you know what both instruments are even though not in sharp focus and the lighiting is very pleasing.
Those are amazing!
Love them!!! I can't wait to see the shots of the artists, if you are able to post them.
thanks for the vote of confidence all!
Cerulean Bill - you crack me up! I'm glad it wasn't an organ and a piccolo! I'm still laughing! I needed that.
Wow - I really like the first shot.
But the angle on No.3 is wonderful.
I am just catching up after a late summer vacation (last one for me) and these are FABULOUS! Wow...I agree with Bill, the suggestion of the instrument is most appealing to me. I hope your clients were pleased; they certainly should be!
I would LOVE to see these printed and framed. Wonderful job!
